BackgroundThis blend is a result of the wine I drink the most of. I love bright, lean wines that have a focus but not the edge. This wine shows the best of the varietals involved. The Sauvignon Blanc gives it zip, which pairs well with food, while the Chardonnay takes the edge off, making for a well-balanced wine.Harvest & WinemakingCool April weather resulted in a late bud break before the vines began to wake up as the typical Eastern Washington heat came on in late May. Growers adapted to these challenging conditions with a few viticultural tricks, such as early crop thinning and removing leaves near the clusters to allow better sunlight on the fruit, sacrifices they were willing to do to improve fruit quality.Vineyards were harvested one to two weeks later than normal, and along with growers efforts, produced a 2008 crop with good color, flavors and acidity, resulting in wines that are crisp and fresh.Wine DescriptionThe 2008 White Blend is smooth and accessible, exhibiting floral aromas, zesty citrus and subtle spice flavors.Food Pairing SuggestionsTry this White Blend with tomato based soups, spicy Asian cuisine or citrus infused dishes.2008 Quail Series White Blend Technical Data Winemaker: Kate MichaudAppellation: 100% Columbia ValleyVarietal: 53% Chardonnay, 40% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Semillon, 2% White RieslingAlcohol: 13.5%T.A.: 7.5 g/LpH: 3.14Residual Sugar: 5 g/LVineyard Source: Oasis, Buoy, DenhoedHarvest Date: September 2010Bottling Date: April 2010Release Date: July 2010Cases Produced: 1,041
